Pricing
Why flat pricing, how you get more for way less
Two of the three ways product designers are priced charge you more the better your shop does, I picked the third on purpose.
Product designers are priced three ways in this market. Two of them charge you more the better your shop does. I picked the third on purpose.
The three pricing models
1. Monthly SaaS + a cut of every sale. Most cloud product customizers charge a monthly fee and take roughly 1.5–2% of every customized order, some cap your monthly order count on top. The designer isn’t on your site; it’s rented, and your design data lives on someone else’s servers.
2. Cheap one-time plugins. A file for $60–100, six months of support, then you’re on your own, no updates as WordPress, WooCommerce, and PHP move underneath it. Cheap on day one; expensive the day it breaks during your busy season.
3. Flat yearly license (mine). One price per year. Unlimited orders, unlimited designs, no percentage, no caps. The plugin runs on your WordPress site, your data, your customers, your checkout, and keeps getting updates, new art, and support from a working print shop.
What the percentage really costs
The math is the whole argument. Say your store does $25,000/month in custom sales, and a customizer takes 1.95% plus its subscription:
| Per-sale model | My T Maker Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Cut of your sales | ~$487/mo | $0 |
| Yearly cost | $5,800+ /yr (and rising with your growth) | $299/yr, flat |
That gap isn’t a discount, it’s a different philosophy. A tool shouldn’t charge you rent on your own hard work. When your sales double, your software bill shouldn’t.
Even a small shop doing $2,500/month in custom work pays a per-sale model more per year than my Advanced plan costs, before counting the monthly subscription itself.
Why not just be a cheap one-time plugin?
Because you’d pay for it later. A designer that takes real orders has to keep pace with WordPress, WooCommerce, browsers, and phones, that’s ongoing work, and one-time pricing can’t fund it. The yearly license is what pays for the updates, the new garments and art, the security patches, and a human who answers, one who runs a press, not a ticket queue.
And if you ever stop renewing? The designer keeps working. You keep the version you have; updates and support pause until you’re back. Nothing is held hostage.
What “more” means, concretely
Every plan includes things the per-sale platforms charge extra for or do not offer at all: self-hosted data, quote-based selling, a real background remover and honest print-size warnings. Advanced adds true vector output and exact hex and PMS matching. Pro adds your own garments and a stats dashboard that keeps every number on your server.
One flat price. Your site. Your data. Your margin stays yours. See the plans →
