Design templates

Finished designs customers open, personalize, and buy, a head start, not a blank canvas.

A blank canvas sells worse than a good starting point. Templates are finished designs customers open, personalize, and buy, the difference between “design a shirt” and “make this one yours.”

What a template is

Any design you build in the designer, text, art, layout, colors, front and back, saved as a starter. Customers pick it, then edit everything: swap the name, change the color, move the art. It’s a head start, not a locked design.

Making one

  1. Open the designer on your own site while logged in as admin and build the design.
  2. Hit ★ Add Template to Library, a button only admins see in the designer.
  3. It’s live immediately: customers find it in the ★ Templates category at the top of the art library (and via the 🎨 Templates button). Loading one drops a fully editable copy onto their shirt.

Manage or delete templates from that same 🎨 Templates button as admin; the Art Library admin page shows the live list at a glance.

What sells as a template (print-shop experience)

  • Local + generic: “CITY Softball”, “Class of 2026”, “FAMILY Reunion”, big text customers replace with their own name in ten seconds.
  • Occasions you already print: bachelorette, fantasy league, memorial, team mom.
  • Your best sellers: if a design gets reprinted for different customers, it should be a template.

Ten strong templates beat fifty mediocre ones. Every template is also a promise you can print it well.

Templates + the rest of Pro

  • Pair with Create Product Draft to publish a template as a buyable product directly.
  • Template designs export the same print files as anything else, see Print files.
